Solution

Difference Between Quercetin and Dihydroquercetin

Both quercetin and dihydroquercetin belong to plant flavonoids. Quercetin itself has two molecules of bound water (dihydrate), and the molecular formula is C15H10O7+2H2O. Therefore, quercetin dihydrate is more of a quercetin API. It is a strict name, but in the determination of quercetin content, the content of anhydrous quercetin should be calculated, that is to say, two molecules of water should be removed in the calculation. Dihydroquercetin (also called Taxifolin) is the reduced form of quercetin, which is the product of hydrogenation of the double bond at positions 2 and 3 in the flavonoid nucleus. Quercetin is insoluble in water and can only be made into tablets. The water solubility of dihydroquercetin is better. In some plants, such as red leaves, quercetin and dihydroquercetin coexist.

What is Dihydroquercetin ?

Dihydroquercetin, as an important flavonoid, exists in a variety of plants, and its content is high in larch, especially Douglas fir. In recent years, dihydroquercetin has also been found in fruits, especially grapes, oranges and grapefruit. Nowadays, dihydroquercetin has the functions of anti-tumor, anti-oxidation, anti-radiation, anti-virus, anti-cardiovascular system diseases, improving capillary microcirculation, improving brain blood circulation, and anti-platelet aggregation. It is used to treat cerebral infarction and other diseases. It may help with coronary artery and other diseases, so it has a high development potential to be developed into food additives, health food and medicines and other related products. Dihydroquercetin has many important biological activities and can inhibit and activate various enzymes to produce different physiological effects. Human studies have found that dihydroquercetin can inhibit the proliferation of ordinary lymphocytes to varying degrees; studies have found that dihydroquercetin can slightly inhibit the growth of squamous cell carcinoma (HTB43), in a certain concentration range. It has a very high inhibitory effect on the reverse transcriptase activity of Moloney murine leukocytosis virus. Taxifolin dihydroquercetin is usually used as a raw material for high-end food. It belongs to the essence extracts of Pinaceae Larch, Douglas fir, Golden Willowaceae and other plants. It is also a flavonoid plant compound and has a good whitening effect, which also is a potent anti-oxidant.

The medicinal effect of dihydroquercetin is mainly reflected in the good antibacterial effect. It has super antibacterial effect on Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and typhoid bacillus. It can also be used for anticancer. It is one of the vitamin groups that can effectively ensure the healthy activities of human organs, and can improve the skin's own protective ability. To a certain extent, it can reduce the damage of human skin by radiation, viruses and other harmful substances from internal and external, and play an effective protective role. Since it is a potent antioxidant drug, dihydroquercetin works well for skin lightening, firming properties.

Function

1. It can enhance immune function.

Dihydroquercetin has many important biological activities and can inhibit and activate various enzymes to produce different physiological effects. Human studies have found that it can inhibit the proliferation of ordinary lymphocytes to varying degrees; studies have found that it can slightly inhibit the growth of squamous cell carcinoma (HTB43), in a certain concentration range. And it can , to some extent, reduce the damage of human skin by radiation, viruses and other harmful substances from internal and external, and play an effective protective role.

2. It has antioxidant function.

It protects capillaries, and it is 3-5 times stronger than quercetin. And anti-lipid peroxidation protects liver, nerve cells, red blood cells, anti-myocardial necrosis, etc. And it also can inhibit the esterification of cholesterol and the synthesis of triacylglycerol and phospholipid in liver cancer cells. And it can inhibit the activity of viral enzymes and induce an increase in intracellular enzyme activity without changing the distribution.

3. It is a new type of food antioxidant.

Its antioxidant capacity is comparable to many natural and synthetic antioxidants, and no toxic reactions have been found in high doses. And it can effectively inhibit leukemia cells and malignant lymphocytes. Not to mention it can scavenge free radicals, and has anti-viral and anti-vasodilatory effects.

Application

1. It can be applied in clinical field.

Dihydroquercetin has anti-tumor, antioxidant, anti-radiation, anti-viral, anti-cardiovascular system diseases, improves capillary microcirculation, improves brain blood circulation, and resists platelet aggregation. It is used for the treatment of cerebral infarction and its sequelae. , cerebral thrombosis, coronary heart disease and other diseases, so it also has a high development potential to be developed into food additives, health food and medicines and other related products.

2. It can be applied in the field of medicine and health products.

The medicinal effect of bio dihydroquercetin is mainly reflected in its good antibacterial effect. It can also be used for anti-cancer. It has the ability to reduce the human skin from internal and external radiation.
